Hairy mole

Everybody has at least one mole some where at his body. But some large hairy mole could be like a curse for her owner. Especially if it is on the face.

The moles could be with different shape and color. And could appear anywhere on the human body. Some moles develop hair and become co called hairy mole.

There are some specific places on the body where it is more possible to see a moles with hair. Usually this are the places where the hairiness is common. On the face this is the whole jaw with the cheeks and the above the lips. No matter if you are a man or a woman these places have stronger hair roots and it is rather possible to develop hair on mole. With the age this possibility becomes bigger because of the hormone transformation.

In fact from medical point of view the hairy mole is two types:

1. Birth mole
2. Gained mole

Some babies are born with a mole. This is called a congenital nevus in medicine. In the most of the cases such a mole has from some to a lot of hair. This hairy pigmented mole is often called birthmark. It is commonly bigger the usual mole size. In some very serious cases the mole could cover very large areas of the body (see hairy moles in children pictures)Some moles have thick hairs covering the entire mole and some have few hairs on it. In the ancient ages there was a superstitious belief that the hairy mole is caused because the mother during the pregnancy was fond of staring at monkeys or other hairy animals. In Far East till nowadays exists the belief the hairy mole is a result of craving for foods made from hairy fruits while pregnant.

In the second case a common mole develops a few hairs. Usually it happens after the middle of the life cycle of the mole. The mole could have a few thin hairs or to be covered with strong,thick, black hairs. Depending of the color and thickness of the hairs they could be removed by shaving, wresting or better with laser.

A lot of people believe that the hairy mole is a sign of skin cancer (see hairy mole pictures). In fact there is no such a connection. Of course on extreme cases in a young baby who has a large hairy mole that cover a large area of their body, this should be considered as very alarming and more likely to become a melanoma. Usually each birth mole with hairs requires regular monitoring from a pediatric care and a skin specialist to check for any changes in the growth of this mole.
